Last week we surveyed the Old Testament to find the history and laws surrounding the Sabbath. We discovered a great deal! The Sabbath extended beyond weekly observances to also include several “festivals” established by the Lord as well as the “year of Jubilee”, in which everyone gave back the land they had purchased from each other, and no one was aloud to plan or harvest anything in that year. It turns out that the land received a Sabbath rest for that whole year.

In today’s sermon we discover other truths about the Sabbath, dating back to the creation story. The plot thickens. This thing called the “Sabbath” may not be what you thought!
