The Bible is clear in its teaching that the church belongs to Almighty God. Let us place great emphasis on the word "Almighty". By His powerful grace God resurrected His Son on the third day. That same powerful grace rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of God's Son. By His power He has called people unto Himself, saved their souls and built His church. By this same power He also provides for us financially.
Tithing, therefore, should never be a matter of pressure among God's people. It is a matter of faith, through God's grace. During our services, we never "take" a tithe. We do not pass a basket to encourage giving. The tithing basket is at the back of the church, and giving is a spiritual act between an individual and the Lord. He has always provided for us this way, and we will always trust Him to do so.
The purpose of the tithe is to pay the church's bills, which are few, and then to be used in service to others. Emphasis will always be upon helping those in need, whom the Lord will faithfully bring to the church's attention so that help can be provided.
We do not believe in fundraisers. If there is something the church needs to pay for, it must come from the tithe that has already been received. No special collection needs to be undertaken within our church so that we can pay for something that we cannot afford through the general offering. Our Lord Jesus always provides!
